FDA approves three color additives derived from natural sources
On May 9th, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced it granted three new color additive petitions, expanding the palette of available colors from natural sources for manufacturers to use in food safely.
FDA extends comment period on Nutrition Info FOP label
The 60-day comment period extension applies to the FDA's proposed rule on front-of-package nutrition labeling, officially titled "Food Labeling: Front-of-Package Nutrition Information" and initially announced on January 15, 2025. This rule would mandate most packaged foods to include a clear front label, called the "Nutrition Info box," displaying levels of saturated fat, sodium, and added sugar as "Low," "Med," or "High."
